IBC Travel Grant Information

The IBS travel awards program, made available through the financial support of the International Biometric Society, IBS Regions, and individuals, provides assistance to only IBS members from Lower- or Middle-Income Countries (LMIC) to attend an IBC.  The 30th International Biometric Conference (IBC 2020) will be held 5-10 July 2020 in Seoul, Korea. 

If you are interested in attending the IBC2020, but don’t have the resources to attend, please consider submitting an application for a travel grant.  This is a competitive program with limited funding, and grants will not exceed $3,000 USD in 2020.

Before applying, it is important to determine if you qualify for funding. There are several important guidelines to keep in mind. 

Important Guidelines

  • Only active members residing in a Lower- or Middle-Income Countries (LMIC) at the time of application are eligible.
  • You must be an IBS member at the time of application, and for at least 12 months prior to the date of application.
  • Previous recipients of the award may apply only if the award was not made in the previous four years.
  • Preference will be given to those who have not received a travel award in the past.
  • The conference to be attended must be the next regularly scheduled International Biometric Conference. 
  • An applicant does need to have applied for an oral or poster presentation. Travel funding will only be awarded to those that have been chosen to present their presentation at the IBC.

Non-IBC Years

In non- IBC years, the International Biometric Society Travel Awards Committee has instituted a program to assist IBS members from Lower- or Middle-Income Countries (LMIC) in attending conferences sponsored by IBS Regions or Networks.

If you are interested in attending a conference in 2021, either in your own region or outside your region, but don’t have the resources to attend, please consider submitting an application for a travel grant.  This is a competitive program with limited funding. Additional details will be available in September 2020.
