"Celebrate Korea" Awards Dinner at Marina Park

Experience the Best of Korea at the "Celebrate Korea" Awards Dinner

Join us for a very special event. Formerly the Gala Dinner, this NEW dinner event will honor Korean style and culture as well as many of our Honorary Life and Kempton award winners.

We start from the COEX Magok, then continue with a casual tour of metropolitan Seoul  before arriving at "Marina, Park", an impressive venue on the banks of the Han River featuring floor-to-ceiling glass windows. You can enjoy all the scenery, rain or shine, while sampling authentic Korean cuisine, local entertainment and a memorable awards ceremony featuring your colleagues and friends.

It's an evening not to be missed!

Tickets are $100.00 USD per person and includes transportation to and from the COEX Magok convention center. Tickets are only available while they last, so be sure to add your tickets to your conference registration.

Announcing our Guests of Honor

We are pleased to announce that the Society will be honoring four of our colleagues for significant contributions to our profession and the community at the 2026 Awards Dinner at IBC2026 in Seoul, South Korea.

By a vote of the IBS Representative Council, longtime member Raúl E. Macchiavelli, PhD, Dean and Director of the College of Agricultural Sciences at University of Puerto Rico, has been named Honorary Life Member of the International Biometric Society! One of Dr. Macchiavelli's letters of reference noted "It is a sincere and broadly shared professional opinion that Dr. Macchiavelli’s 40+ year-long career exemplifies the IBS values and mission.", and we could not agree more. This can surely be said of many of our Honorary Life members, and we thank Raul for his many years of involvement and leadership!

The Representative Council also recently approved multiple winners of the Rob Kempton Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Development of Biometry in the Developing World. It is a particularly appropriate moment to identify multiple winners, as this award honors significant contributions and a longtime commitment and passion devoted to the advancement of biometry around the world. Being honored this evening will be:

Tobias Chirwa, Head of the School of Public Health of the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), Programme Director for the Sub-Saharan Africa Consortium for Advanced Biostatistics (SSACAB), is widely recognized both within South Africa and internationally, for his exceptional and sustained contributions to strengthening biostatistics capacity across Sub-Saharan Africa.

Xiao Hua (Andrew) Zhou, Chair and Professor of Biostatistics at Peking University, is an internationally recognized leader in biostatistics, quantitative medicine, and data science, whose scholarly and institutional achievements have profoundly advanced the discipline of biometry in China and across the developing world.
Ziv Shkedy, Professor of Biostatistics and bioinformatics at the University of Hasselt in Belgium, has made remarkable and sustained contributions to advancing biostatistics education, research, and capacity building across the Global South.

Congratulations to all!

This event is current SOLD OUT. However, some tickets may become available closer to the event, first-come first-served. Please contact ibs@biometricsociety.org regarding availability or check at the Registration Desk upon arrival at the IBC.
