The Department of Biostatistics in the School of Public Health at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks applications for two full-time, tenure-track/tenured Associate Professors, beginning immediately. The UAB Department of Biostatistics is situated in a very data-rich environment that continues to grow and expand. The UAB School of Public Health offers unparalleled opportunities for research, teaching, scholarship, and service, having helped transform Birmingham into a nexus of medicine, business, research, and vibrant community. The UAB School of Public Health is one of six health science schools at UAB. In 2018, the School received more than $23 million in research grants and contracts.

Candidates should have a doctoral degree in Biostatistics or a closely related field and experience consistent with the academic rank of Associate Professor. All areas in biostatistical methods research, including frequentist or Bayesian frameworks, are welcome to apply. Applicants with a successful track record of collaborative experience with researchers in public health, medicine and/or other biomedical studies are highly encouraged to apply. Experience in multicenter trials and coordinating centers is a plus. Applicants also must have demonstrated the ability to obtain research funding, either independently or in collaboration with biomedical researchers. The successful applicant must have taught graduate or undergraduate biostatistics or closely related field and will be expected to teach one graduate biostatistics course a year. Also, the successful candidate is expected to maintain an active research program involving graduate students, mentor and advise graduate students, and participate in department and university affairs.
